The 2019 BMW M2 is not built for mass consumption. Instead this machine is built for fun. Pricing for the 2019 BMW M2 Competition starts at $58,900. It has only been 3 years since BMW released the M2 to replace the 1-Series M. So the design difference for this Competition model are not that obvious at first glance. Upfront there are refreshed LED headlights, a revised black kidney grill, and a re-sculpted lower front fascia. The wheels are 19-inches wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. The door mirrors have some aero sculpting to them and the window trim surround is now black. Out back not much has changed. The badging now says M2 Competition and the quad exhaust features black tips.

Under the hood is where things get really interesting. Typically, with M-Competition vehicles BMW turns up the dial making the vehicle a bit more aggressive. With the M2; BMW completely replaced the engine. The S55 motor from the M3 and M4 was taken and crammed it under the hood of the M2 Competition. Power levels check in at 405 horsepower and 406 lb-ft. of torque. That’s an increase of 40 horsepower and 37 lb-ft. of torque over last year’s model. Transmission choices are a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT. Fuel economy is 18 MPG in the city and 25 MPG on the highway. 0-60 MPH times are stated at 4 seconds flat.

On the inside the changes are as subtly different as the exterior. There is a thicker new steering wheel featuring blue stitching. The instrument cluster is not entirely digital to match the rest of the M cars. There are tons of standard features and this M2 Competition is well packaged.
